The Trinity
God is one (Deut. 6:4; James 2:19; I Timothy 2:5). God is also triune - Father, Son and Spirit. Each of the three persons of the Trinity is referred to as “God” or “Lord” in the Scriptures (Father - Gal. 1:1; Eph. 1:3; 6:23; I Peter 1:2; I Cor. 8:4,6; I Timothy 2:5-6. Son - John 1:1, 18; 20:28; Romans 9:5; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 1:8; 2 Peter 1:1; I John 5:20. Holy Spirit - Acts 5:3-4; 2 Cor. 3:17-18; Romans 8:9-10).
Works of God
The works of God include creation and providence. By his Word, God created everything that exists ex nihilo - without the use of preexisting materials (John 1:1-3). Having created all things, God is also interested in preserving and governing his creation, as well as guiding it toward the purpose for which he intended it (Matt. 5:45).
